Normani Kordei is Helping to Combat Cancer With The American Cancer Society

For Normani Kordei, being an ambassador for The American Cancer Society is a natural choice.

The Fifth Harmony singer’s mom was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was five, though she has since recovered.

“It was really, really tough seeing her go through that,” Normani told Entertainment Weekly in a new interview. She now feels that it is her “opportunity and…duty” to give back.

“I’ve had my own experience, but just to talk to people, other patients who are going through the same thing that my mom went through and help them cope in different ways [is special],” she continued. “It didn’t feel like a hospital. They really created such a special place for the patients — it feels like home.”

She loves to visit patients in the hospital, which, though difficult, means the world to her.

“I know how big of a deal it is for me to be in their world, but I want them to recognize that they also impact me greatly.”

We’re so glad Normani is using her platform for such an important cause.
