'For The People' Showrunner Explains Why Britt Robertson's Role Was Recast

Britt Robertson keeps things classic in a sheer lace dress during the Disney ABC Winter TCA 2018 Party on Monday night (January 8) in Pasadena, Calif.

The 27-year-old actress stepped out for the reception after speaking about her new series, For The People, with co-stars Jasmin Savoy Brown, Ben Rappaport, , Rege-Jean Page, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Anna Deavere Smith, Wesam Keesh, Susannah Flood, Hope Davis, Ben Shenkman and executive producer Shonda Rhimes.

During the panel, Paul William Davis explained race was not a factor in recasting former lead Britne Oldford and giving the part to Britt.

“It really wasn’t [a factor], because it wasn’t like we moved from Britne to Britt. We moved through a tracking period, looking at other actresses. And part of it was just redefining the role of Sandra. She plays a little bit differently than she did in the original version,” Paul shared.

He added, “There was discussion with the network about the creative direction of the show. And so in the context of that, I ended up rewriting things. We also decided, just in the nature of the chemistry, that we would recast.”

For the People will premiere on Tuesday, March 13th on ABC.

Phoebe Tonkin Volunteers Herself, Britt Robertson & Shelley Hennig For 'Hocus Pocus' Remake

Phoebe Tonkin might have just made the news about the Hocus Pocus remake a lot better.

After news broke about Disney’s plans for a sequel film of the hit Halloween classic movie, The Originals actress straight up volunteered herself, Britt Robertson and Shelley Hennig for the movie.

Phoebe, Britt and Shelley starred as three young witches on The Secret Circle, so the concept of magic is no stranger to them at all.

The new TV movie will have a completely new cast and will be written by Scarlett Lacey and David Kirschner, who produced the original, is set to executive produce.

Hocus Pocus is set to air 16 times during Freeform’s annual 13 Nights of Halloween line-up.

Anyone else good with this? Because we are!

Phoebe is also pictured below, out shopping with a friend in Beverly Hills, Calif., earlier this week.

Britt Robertson Sits Front Row at Christian Dior During Paris Fashion Week

Britt Robertson Sits Front Row at Christian Dior During Paris Fashion Week

Britt Robertson steps out in a lovely floral dress for the Christian Dior show during Paris Fashion Week Womenswear Spring/Summer 2018 on Tuesday afternoon (September 26) in Paris, France.

While production on her show was shut down, the actress took the opportunity to sit front row at the show next to Karlie Kloss.

Britt‘s ABC show, For the People, was temporarily shut down last week, according to Deadline.

“After reshooting the pilot and filming the series’ second episode and seeing [Britt] Robertson and [Jasmin Savoy] Brown in the roles, I hear a decision was made to stop and rework the upcoming scripts, which had already been completed, to better fit the new dynamic on the show,” the site reports.

“I hear the series will stay dark for about one cycle, or 2.5 weeks, before resuming production. For the People has no premiere date and is slated for a midseason launch, so the delay is not going to impact delivery.”

Good to know it’s still coming back for a mid-season premiere. We’re looking forward to watching.

KJ Apa Says Britt Robertson Made His First Film The Best First Film Experience

KJ Apa Says Britt Robertson Made His First Film The Best First Film Experience

We all know and love KJ Apa for his portrayal as Archie on Riverdale.

However, the New Zealand-born actor actually filmed A Dog’s Purpose before the CW show — and it was Britt Robertson who truly welcome him to show business in the Americas.

“She was amazing. She was great,” KJ shared about his co-star. “She knew that it was my first film as well, so she was helping me out a bit.”

He adds, “Obviously you’re there for three months, and you don’t really have anyone else to hang with, so we were hanging out a lot.”

“That’s kind of the other thing I learned, you’re on these projects and you meet these people and you get really close with them and then you never really see them probably for the rest of your life.”
