Shawn Mendes Shouts-Out Johnny Orlando on 'Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon'

Shawn Mendes was himself discovered on Youtube, so it blows his mind when rising stars like Johnny Orlando gain fame using his songs.

“There’s this video of this kid singing ‘Stitches,’” Shawn tells Jimmy Fallon in an interview Wednesday night (September 13).

“He like reenacts the whole video of like me getting hit and stuff — he does it better than me too, and he’s better looking too — it has like 80 million views! It’s like this re-made version of my song.”

He is referring, of course, to Johnny, who was appropriately enthused to be mentioned on TV.

“when @ShawnMendes talks about you on @jimmyfallon,” he tweeted yesterday (September 14).

Shawn Mendes Got His Elephant Tattoo With His Mom!

Shawn Mendes Got His Elephant Tattoo With His Mom!

Shawn Mendes surprised fans earlier this week, by debuting his sneaky elephant finger tattoo on Instagram.

While we all love elephants, we knew there had to be a deeper meaning behind the ink — and there is! Shawn actually got the tattoo with his mom, and they’re matching!

“I was trying to convince her to get a tattoo for a while and this is really the only thing that she would do because she’s obsessed with elephants,” Shawn told GQ.

“It was the only thing,” he laughs about it.

“Like, a hundred different things I asked her to get with me and this was the only thing. She was like, ‘I could do that.’”

Shawn‘s mom’s tattoo is an exact copy of his, on her same finger, in the same spot.

Mother/son goals!

In the black-and-white video, Shawn flashes the side of his middle finger on this left hand, revealing a simple outline of an elephant. Check it out below!

Back in September 2016, Shawn appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to discuss his first tattoo – a guitar on his arm.

“It’s the woods here and a reflection on water, a sound wave connecting to the city, being Toronto,” he explained. “Actually, the sound wave is my parents and my sister saying ‘I love you,’ so it’s that connection between home, work, and family.”

We’ll have to wait and see what Shawn has to say about the meaning behind his new tattoo!

The British boy band – Blake Richardson, George Smith and Reece Bibby – play a Shawn Mendes mash-up in their latest video, and it is the perfect melding of worlds.

New Hope Club play snippets of “Stitches,” “There’s Nothin’ Holding Me Back,” “Life of the Party,” and more. Shawn would approve.

Shawn Mendes does not play around when it comes to defending his fans.

The 19-year-old “There’s Nothin’ Holding Me Back” singer frequently leaps to their aid, from promoting their fan art to dismissing their trolls. Now, he is standing up to their hackers.

“Just hacked an account with a Shawn follow,” one Twitter user wrote this week.

“That sucks,” Shawn answered in a now-deleted tweet, “can u please give it back. I need to speak to the real owner.”

He then proceeded to block the hacker on the platform so that it, well, no longer had his follow.

Shawn Mendes Opens Up About Chasing Bigger Dreams with 'Paper' Mag

Shawn Mendes is always striving to better himself — whether that be on the stage, with his fans or setting new goals for himself.

Speaking with Paper magazine, the “Mercy” singer is ready for the next step in his career. But what might that actually be?

“It can never end, you know what I mean?” Shawn muses. “The dream is just to go bigger and better, bigger and better, bigger and better and when you think you’re at your biggest and your best, you’re not so that’s kind of the beauty of things — not just music but of anything.”

He adds, “There’s no peak and that’s really cool.”

Shawn also opened up about the pressure to be better and get better all the time.

“With a lot more popularity, there’s pressure in a good way to be a lot better and I think that’s what’s going on right now for me,” he says.

“You know, I feel like the more people get to know me and with my name starting to really get out there, I find in a good way pressure to really show up when it comes to my live performances.”
